After a four year break due to Covid, the band will be returning to Ypres in Belgium next month for an intensive rehearsal (and social!
) weekend.
We will also be playing at the Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate on Friday 27th October. The band will be performing Prelude on Lavenham, a beautiful piece of music with a strong local connection. A wreath will be laid on behalf of the Band and the village of Long Melford.
Prelude on ‘Lavenham’ was written for the 130th anniversary, in 2014, of Lavenham Corps in Suffolk and was first performed at their anniversary concert in the village’s Parish Church by Kettering Citadel Band under Bandmaster Richard Phillips. The arrangement is dedicated to the memory of Bandmaster Derek Wilding of Lavenham Corps.
Long Melford Silver Band
