Long Melford Silver Band is a traditional brass band, which has been in existence in Long Melford, Suffolk, since 1890 – over 125 years.
Long Melford Silver Band is a community band formed of local amateur players and does not compete in competition currently. We rehearse on Wednesday evenings and love to welcome new beginners and experienced players alike.
The band has a comprehensive library of music to suit most occasions and tastes, and is generally available throughout the year to provide music for Concerts, Fetes, Weddings, Church Services and Mess Functions etc.
Would you like to join the band?
At the moment we are particularly looking for a tuba player and a bass trombonist.
The inevitable ebb and flow of players through school to university and life’s other responsibilities and transitions means the membership is always a little fluid so we will be delighted to hear from you.
We have some spare instruments if you don’t have your own, but we may need a couple of days notice to get them out of storage.
As an active village band we need players who can commit to attending both rehearsals and events ranging from summer fayres, fetes and formal band concerts throughout the year.
